Inaugural WFDB InterBourse Pavilion planned for Iberjoya jewellery show in Madrid

Antwerp, September 3, 2009 - The World Federation of Diamond Bourses will launch its first-ever WFDB Interbourse Pavilion at the Iberjoya trade show in Madrid, Spain, September 9-13. The pavilion will function as a diamond trading floor where only members of WFDB bourses can exhibit. To support this endeavour, the Trade Fair Institution of Madrid (IFEMA) has completed an industry-wide marketing campaign, inviting diamond and gemstone traders, jewellery manufacturers, retailers and designers to the show and pavilion.

The WFDB Interbourse Pavilion comprises tables and showcases located within an attractively designed display area. The area, which will be widely visible in the show, will be protected by additional security guards and closed-circuit cameras. The pavilion is prominently positioned at the show, with a clearly visible tower, a one-metre high perimeter wall and a single entrance, which will be staffed by a hostess.

Participants at the WFDB Interbourse Pavilion in Madrid include Diamond Centers International located in both Spain and Belgium, Rubin & Zonen of Antwerp, Belgium, and Eliezer Broide Diamonds, Leo Schachter Diamonds and Smart Diamond Enterprises Ltd (SDE) of Ramat Gan, Israel.

WFDB president Avi Paz said the WFDB InterBourse Pavilion represents a new and important project for the world federation. “The WFDB seeks to assist its members in opening up new markets for polished diamonds. It wishes to help them broaden their horizons, to offer them more choices and to add more value to their products, while at the same time preserving and upholding the highest business practices and ethics.”

Paz emphasized that the WFDB pavilion will not compete with national diamond pavilions at the major trade shows. “WFDB has deliberately selected shows at which national diamond industry pavilions are not located, as we have no intention of competing with our own members. However, in 2010, we hope to expand the WFDB InterBourse project to other shows as well. We're in advanced stages to have a WFDB InterBourse pavilion at the Inhorgenta show in Munich and are in negotiations with shows in Italy, Poland and Turkey," Paz noted.
