President, Israel Precious Stones and Diamonds Exchange

Shlomo Eshed, a second generation member of the precious stone industry, was born in Israel in 1949. In 1972, after completing his army service in the paratroopers, he joined the business and became one of the founders the Israel Precious Stones and Diamonds Exchange (of IPSDE).

In 1990, he established Gemerald Ltd., which is today a world leader in precious stones manufacturing and marketing. Gemerald specializes in all qualities of emeralds, as well as tanzanite. The firm's cutting facilities are located in Ramat Gan, employ state-of-the-art technology developed in Israel. Gemerald markets its products globally, mainly to the U.S. market, but also with a special focus on the Asia-Pacific region. 

From the moment he entered the field of precious stones, Eshed has devoted vast time and effort to public activity on behalf of the industry. In 2002, he was first elected president of the Israel Precious Stones and Diamonds Exchange. In 2007 he was re-elected to his third consecutive term in this office. As IPSDE president, he dedicates special attention to positioning the Israel precious stone industry. 

Eshed has two brothers in the precious stone industry. His older brother, Avraham, is chairman of the Israel Gemstone Cutters Association, and his younger brother, Ofer, is also a founder of Gemerald and they work together to this very day.

Eshed is married to Irit. They have three children, Keren, Daniel and Tamir.
