WFDB mourns the death of diamond broker Gerald Rothschild

August 16, 2011: The World Federation of Diamond Bourses has paid tribute to Gerald Rothschild, who has died in Germany at age 86. Mr. Rothschild was a veteran DTC diamond broker, who served as managing director at I. Hennig & Co., and in 1995 set up his own brokerage office.

Bourse elections held at Antwerpsche Diamantkring CVBA

July 18, 2011: The Antwerpsche Diamantkring CVBA held its bourse elections during the annual General Meeting on 31 May, 2011, electing David Wahl as president and Freddy Inzlicht as vice president. Appointments to the executive board are Charles Cyto, Shlomo Hoffman, Michel Schonfeld and Michael Vaughan, who also serves as Secretary-General of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB).

WFDB deplores breakdown of KP talks in Kinshasa, says impact on downstream of supply pipeline may be disastrous

June 27, 2011: Avi Paz, president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB), said that the uncompromising positions taken by some Kimberley Process (KP) members and the ensuing lack of agreement regarding the future of rough diamond exports from the Marange region in Zimbabwe would be detrimental in particular to the downstream end of the diamond supply pipeline. Following the breakdown last week of the Kimberley Process Intersessional Meeting in Kinshasa, Paz said the impasse had the potential to hit the well-being of the entire, global diamond industry.

June 16, 2011: Avi Paz, president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB), is confident that participants at the Kimberley Process meeting to take place next week in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), will remove the barriers preventing the export of rough diamonds from the controversial Marange deposits.

May 26, 2011: The World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) called on the members of the Kimberley Process to resolve their internal disagreements on the issue of rough diamond exports from Zimbabwe, and without any further delay take the essential and courageous decision to allow Zimbabwe to export rough diamonds from all diamond mining areas in the country, including Marange.

May 3, 2011: The London Diamond Bourse (LDB) has announced that following the recent death of its president Freddy Hager, the LDB board, or Council of Management, had been reformed and a new president and vice president appointed.
