WFDB concludes 34th World Diamond Congress, urges responsible trading practices following global crisis

JULY 13, 2010: The World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) has concluded its meetings at the 34th World Diamond Congress in Moscow, calling on the industry to internalise the lessons learned during the global financial crisis of the past 18 months, during which time diamond dealers reduced significantly the volume of goods being sold on consignment and also cut the standard periods for which terms of credit are extended.

34th World Diamond Congress opens in Moscow, with South Korean bourse accepted as 29th WFDB member

JULY 12, 2010: The 34th World Diamond Congress has opened at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Moscow, Russia. During its first working session, the General Assembly elected its officers for the coming two years, and accepted the South Korean Diamond Exchange as the organisation’s 29th member. In addition, Avi Pas was unanimously re-elected to a second, consecutive term as WFDB President.

WFDB President issues stern warning regarding Marange diamonds

JUNE 29, 2010: Further to the  KP intersessional meeting and in anticipation of the forthcoming 34th World Diamond Congress and WDC meeting in Russia, Avi Paz, president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) called upon all stakeholders -- governments, NGOs and industry members -- to cooperate in working towards a solution to the Marange Mine issue that would be viable and acceptable to all sides.

JUNE 17, 2010: The 34th World Diamond Congress will be held in Moscow, Russia, from July 11-13. The event is the biennial congress of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and its sister organization, the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA). It is the first time a World Diamond Congress has been held in Russia. The event is coordinated by the Moscow-based WFDB affiliated bourses, the Diamond Chamber of Russia (DCR) and the Moscow Diamond Bourse (MDB).

WFDB shocked by raid on home of NGO activist in Zimbabwe

JUNE 4, 2010: The World Federation of Diamond Bourses is concerned and shocked about the raid on the home of Farai Maguwu, the director of the Centre for Research and Development (CRD) and the arrest of a member of his family. The raid occurred on May 27.

WFDB mourns passing of Wolfgang Gross 1918-2010

June 3, 2010: The World Federation of Diamond Bourses mourns the death of Wolfgang Gross, Honorary president of the Diamantklub Wien (Diamond Club of Vienna) and an Honorary Delegate to the WFDB.

Bourse elections held in Diamantclub van Antwerpen
