WFDB mourns death of Jacob Banda, President of the Diamond Dealers Club of New York

Antwerp, October 18, 2009 - The World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) said it learned with great sorrow of the death on Friday night of Jacob Banda, president of the Diamond Dealers Club of New York since 2000. Banda, who was 62 and who won a second term as DDC president earlier this year, was appointed to the Executive Committee of the WFDB in 2000.

Bourse elections held in Australia and South East United States

WFDB Executive Committee Calls on Kimberley Process to Expedite Release of Report and Recommendations about Zimbabwe

Antwerp, September 8, 2009 - The Executive Committee of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) has called upon the Kimberley Process to release its much-anticipated report and recommendations about the Zimbabwe diamond mining sector as soon as possible. The WFDB Executive Committee met at the London Diamond Bourse on Monday, September 7, 2009.

Inaugural WFDB InterBourse Pavilion planned for Iberjoya jewellery show in Madrid

Antwerp, September 3, 2009 - The World Federation of Diamond Bourses will launch its first-ever WFDB Interbourse Pavilion at the Iberjoya trade show in Madrid, Spain, September 9-13. The pavilion will function as a diamond trading floor where only members of WFDB bourses can exhibit. To support this endeavour, the Trade Fair Institution of Madrid (IFEMA) has completed an industry-wide marketing campaign, inviting diamond and gemstone traders, jewellery manufacturers, retailers and designers to the show and pavilion.

 

First WFDB Interbourse Pavilion to launch at Iberjoya show in September

Antwerp, July 13 - The World Federation of Diamond Bourses will inaugurate its first-ever WFDB Interbourse Pavilion at the Iberjoya trade show in Madrid, Spain, in September. The pavilion, which will function as a diamond trading floor upon which only members of WFDB bourses can exhibit, will be a featured highlight of what is the most important jewellery trade show in the Spanish-speaking world.

WFDB convenes first-ever WFDB Asia Summit meeting in Hong Kong

Antwerp, July 1, 2009 – The World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) convened its first-ever WFDB Asia Summit Meeting on June 29 in Hong Kong, with the specific aim to strengthen the organization's ties with its member diamond bourses in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo. Five of the six bourses invited to the summit sent high-ranking delegations to attend the one-day meeting.

Israel Diamond Exchange membership votes for new board,  re-elects Avi Paz to serve third and final term

Antwerp, June 25, 2009 - The Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) held its biennial elections for the president, board and committee yesterday. The IDE membership voted in a new board and by an overwhelming majority reaffirmed incumbent president Avi Paz, who will serve a third and final term at the helm of the exchange.
